The roles we need
Home Assessor. Walk properties with residents and produce assessment reports. Requires a 4-hour training (offered twice yearly). Typical time: 4–8 hours per month during the active season.
Team Leader. The main SRV Firewise point of contact for your community. Coordinates local activities, runs the annual outreach event, and shepherds the annual NFPA renewal. Typical time: 4–6 hours per month.
Community Events Coordinator. Organizes chipper days, brush-clearing weekends, town halls, and educational events. Typical time: variable — event-driven.
Communications Volunteer. Writes for the monthly newsletter, edits documents, produces short educational videos, translates content to Spanish. Typical time: 2–4 hours per month.
Fundraiser / Grant Writer. Identifies and writes grant applications; supports donation drives. Typical time: variable.
IT Assistant. Helps maintain the website, keeps content current, handles the small technical tasks that come up. Typical time: 2–3 hours per month.
Board Member. SRV Firewise coalition governance. Approximately monthly meetings; occasional weekend commitments.
At-Risk Phone Tree Volunteer. During Red Flag warnings, calls the at-risk registered residents in your community to check on them. Typical time: 2–4 calls during a given weather event.
How to volunteer
You can pick multiple roles. We’ll match you with your community’s local needs and confirm within a few days.
